Ohio high school football rankings: Archbishop Hoban sits atop state Top 25 as playoff begin this week

No. 1 Knights head into postseason on heels of 27-14 win; Pickerington Central, St. Xavier sit 2-3.

High school football playoffs begin this week in Ohio and while the brackets have been released, Archbishop Hoban (Akron) remains atop the state's Top 25 computer rankings. The Knights, 27-14 winners last week over Walsh Jesuit, sit ahead of Pickerington Central (Pickerington) (6-0) and new No. 3 St. Xavier (Cincinnati).

The Bombers jumped two spots following their 62-37 win over St. Ignatius. The second-ranked Tigers, meanwhile, remained perfect on the season with a 38-13 win over Reynoldsburg.

New to this week's rankings are Marysville, up seven spots to No. 19, and Westerville Central (Westerville), which bumped four spots to No. 25.

A total of 648 schools are participating in this year's playoffs, which begin next Friday (Oct. 9). State champions will be crowned in seven divisions.
