Basketball Recap: Tuesday's Victory Is Copper Canyon's Sixth in Last Seven Outings

Copper Canyon won the last time they faced Washington, and Consolet Komya did her part to make sure it happened again. The Copper Canyon Aztecs blew past the Washington Rams 41-18 on Tuesday thanks in part to Komya, who went 9-for-22 en route to 21 points in addition to eight boards and seven steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Copper Canyon's points.

The team also got some help courtesy of Julissa Rocha, who posted two points along with ten steals and six rebounds. Those ten steals gave her a new career-high.

Washington lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was AnyaLisa Carino, who earned nine points.

Copper Canyon is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 6-13 record this season. As for Washington, they dropped their record down to 5-13 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road.

Copper Canyon wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 62-13 defeat against Fairfax on the 6th. As for Washington, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 52-41 loss against Cortez on the 6th.
