Volleyball Recap: Taft Extends Home Winning Streak to Five

Taft had won five straight at home, but on Saturday they bumped up to 10-4 to make it six. They had just enough and edged out the Seguin Matadors 2-1. While the Raiders didn't have the best season last year (they finished 15-26), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Selah Anderson paced Taft's offense, picking up eight kills. Anderson got some help from Taylor Lee and her 14 assists. Casyn Jefferson and Camille Ince kept things locked in from the service line: the pair finished with two aces apiece.

As for Seguin, their loss dropped their record down to 10-9. The defeat continues a trend for them in their meetings with Taft: they've now lost three in a row.

When it comes to explaining why Seguin lost, don't look at Gisele Morales. Despite the final result, she had 26 assists and 13 digs. Morales is on a roll when it comes to assists, as she's now posted 15 or more in each of the last three games she's played. Bella Homan also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.

Taft and Seguin should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings. The Raiders will square off against Holmes at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank advantage (166 vs. 828). Meanwhile, Seguin (ranked 358th) will meet Fox Tech (ranked 1002nd) at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
