Basketball Recap: Baker Piles Up the Points Against L.E.A.D. Academy

Baker had won eight straight at home dating back to last season, but on Tuesday they bumped up to 4-0 to make it nine. They breezed past the L.E.A.D. Academy Lions to the tune of 69-38. Fans of the Gators have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 20+ points.

Baker's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Josh Bethel led the charge by putting up 21 points. Those 21 points gave Bethel a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Peyton Ellis, who posted 15 points.

Having lost for the first time this season, L.E.A.D. Academy fell to 4-1. The matchup marked their lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Despite the loss, L.E.A.D. Academy had strong showings from Andrew Holcomb, who put up seven points and ten rebounds, and Ta'Navion Richardson, who earned 11 points. Richardson is also on a roll when it comes to three-point shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 50% in the last four games he's played. Adam Melvin also deserves some recognition as he posted his first assists of the season.

Baker will have a chance to go back-to-back against L.E.A.D. Academy: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
