Baseball Recap: Quapaw Takes a Loss

Quapaw lost against Wyandotte last Saturday, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Quapaw Wildcats lost 16-8 to the Wyandotte Bears. That's two games in a row now that the Wildcats have lost by exactly eight runs.

Ayden Bruton was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That triple was his first of the season.

In other batting news, Connor Fox was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing Two bases. while going 3-for-3. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Cooper Welch, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

This is the second loss in a row for Quapaw and nudges their season record down to 2-4. That patch can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games. As for Wyandotte, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-1.

We've got a battle between Wildcats coming up. Quapaw has given up an average of 10 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week. As for Wyandotte, they will square off against Dover at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
