MaxPreps and the Oregon Athletic Coaches Association (OACA) select the top football performance in the state each week. Only players with stats on MaxPreps are eligible.

Name: Justin Herbert
School: Sheldon (Eugene)

Herbert helped lead Sheldon (9-1) to a 69-28 state playoff victory over Sunset High. He passed for 333 yards (22-for-29), rushed 16 times for 89 yards and caught an 18-yard reception, giving him 440 yards of total offense and five touchdowns on the night. Herbert has passed for 2,649 yards with 32 touchdowns and only three interceptions on the season.

Name: Tyler Tandy
School: Imbler



Tandy led Imbler to a 60-35 first-round state playoff victory over Lost River. He rushed for 429 yards on 38 carries and scored five touchdowns. On the season, Tandy has rushed for 1,822 yards and scored 22 touchdowns.

Name: Everett Thomas
School: Taft (Lincoln City)

Thomas completed 32 of 52 passes for 484 yards as he led Taft to a 36-34 victory over Burns. Thomas has thrown for 2,673 yards for the Tigers on the season.

Name: Cavin Gillispie
School: Crater (Central Point)

Gillispie rushed for 268 yards on 24 carries as Crater improved its record to 8-0 with a 49-35 victory over Springfield. Gillispie has rushed for 1,001 yards on the season, with an 8.3 yards per carry average and has scored 16 touchdowns.

Name: Derek Brown
School: Redmond 

Brown rushed for 300 yards on 30 carries, scoring two touchdowns as he led Redmond (5-2) to a 50-27 victory over Mountain View (Bend). He also completed three passes for 86 yards and one touchdown, and was responsible for 395 yards of total offense in the game. Brown has 1,797 rushing yards on the season, averaging 12.3 yards per carry and 256.7 yards per game.

Name: John Bledsoe
School: Summit (Bend)

Bledsoe led Summit to a 49-7 victory over Redmond by passing for 280 yards (16 of 28) and five touchdowns, improving the team's record to 5-1. Bledsoe has thrown for 1,287 yards on the season, completing 62 percent of his passes with 14 touchdowns.

Name: Will Shaw
School: Yoncalla

Shaw passed for 452 yards, completing 20 of 25 passes to lead the Eagles to an 84-28 victory over Mohawk High. He threw seven touchdown passes in the game, improving Yoncalla's overall record to 5-0. Shaw has completed 77 percent of his passes with 18 touchdowns on the season.

Name: Anthony Johnson
School: Scio

Johnson had his fourth-consecutive game with 250 or more rushing yards, as he posted 370 yards on 30 carries in Scio’s 68-47 victory over Salem Academy. He scored six touchdowns and has 17 touchdowns on the year and the Loggers improved to 4-0. He has gained 1,407 yards on the season averaging an amazing 15 yards per carry.

Name: Hunter Mattson
School: Corvallis

Mattson rushed for 278 yards on 34 carries, scoring four touchdowns in Corvallis’ 42-36 overtime loss to crosstown rival Crescent Valley. He has gained 504 yards with a 7.3 yards per carry average this season.

School: Banks

McClean led Banks to a 48-20 victory over Philomath, improving the team's record to 2-0. He rushed for 207 yards on 22 carries and scored five touchdowns. McClean also had 12 tackles on defense.

Neville led Wilsonville to a 54-21 opening-game victory over Mountain View (Bend). He completed 20 of 30 passes for 320 yards with four touchdowns, and he rushed for 73 yards on nine carries.
