Softball Recap: Norwalk Gets the Win

Norwalk proved they can win big on Saturday (they won by 18) and on Monday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged out the Marquez Gladiators 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Lancers have posted since May 15, 2025.

Kiara Vasquez was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Karla Diaz, who went 1-for-2 with three stolen bases and one run.

Norwalk has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 11-8-1 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Marquez, with the defeat, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 12-3.

Norwalk has already played their next contest, an 18-0 victory against Bellflower on the 21st. As for Marquez, they will take on Torres at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Toros have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 14.67 runs per game on average), something the Gladiators will no doubt try to take advantage of.
