Softball Recap: Plainfield Central Extends Winning Streak to Three

Plainfield Central took a 11-run loss the last time they faced off against Yorkville, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Wildcats won by a run and slipped past the Foxes 8-7. Winning may never get old, but the Wildcats sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

The team relied heavily on Maeve Carlton, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. She is on a roll when it comes to home runs, as she's now launched at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Sophia Patterson, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.

Plainfield Central was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .387. They are undefeated (3-0) when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

The win got Plainfield Central back to even at 9-9-1. As for Yorkville, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-8.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Plainfield Central will challenge rival Oswego at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Yorkville is set to take on their familiar foe Joliet West at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
