Softball Recap: Lowell Triumphs

Lowell was forced to take a big loss against they on Tuesday, they got the better of them on Friday. They walked away with a 13-10 victory over the Umpqua Valley Christian Monarchs. This was a revenge game for the Devils: when they faced off against the Monarchs on Tuesday, they had to take a 12-2 defeat.

Marley Plahn made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She pitched seven innings while giving up just two earned (and eight unearned) runs off seven hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, Cheyanne McNamee and Gracie Aldinger did most of the damage at the plate: McNamee got on base in four of her five plate appearances with five stolen bases, four runs, and one double, while Aldinger went 3-for-4 with seven stolen bases, three runs, and one double. Those seven stolen bases gave Aldinger a new career-high. Jade Clark was another key player, going 1-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Lowell's record now sits at 8-10. As for Umpqua Valley Christian, they moved to 12-10 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Lowell does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Umpqua Valley Christian, they will head out to square off against Salem Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
