Football Recap: Forrest City Takes a Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Forrest City can now relate to. They were beaten by the Elkins Elks 52-14 on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Mustangs have suffered since August 29th.

Forrest City's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Kevin Young, who rushed for 24 yards and one score, and Vonterrious Williams, who picked up 101 receiving yards. Williams has become a key player for the Mustangs: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least 100 receiving yards, but 3-5 otherwise.

Forrest City now has a losing record of 5-6. As for Elkins, the victory was the ninth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 10-1.

Forrest City does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Elkins, they will face off against Southside at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Southerners' defense has only allowed 12.6 points per game this season, so the Elks' offense will have their work cut out for them.
