Softball Recap: Campbellsville Eagles vs. Green County Dragons
Campbellsville fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Green County on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Dragons by a score of 5-4. If the Eagles were looking for revenge after losing 9-3 to the Dragons when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.
Riley Underwood spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and four unearned) runs on 11 hits.
On the hitting side, Campbellsville saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lily Murphy, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one run.
Campbellsville's defeat dropped their record down to 10-14. As for Green County, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 11-11.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Campbellsville will square off against Boyle County at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Green County, they will look to defend their home field on Monday against Bethlehem at 5:30 p.m. The last three games the Eagles/Banshees have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
