Great Commission might have lost, but man, Landyn Summers was a machine: he went 11 of 25 en route to 22 points and six steals. The dominant performance gave Summers a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Alex Guise, who posted six points and nine rebounds.
Even though they lost, Great Commission smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Blair County Christian entered their tilt with Johnstown Christian on Tuesday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They beat the Bluejays by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 53-32. The Bobcats have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six games by 21 points or more this season.
Blair County Christian found their leader in sophomore Jonathan Marucci, who went 10 for 17 to rack up 20 points in addition to eight steals and five assists. The matchup was Marucci's third in a row with at least 20 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Caleb Hileman, who dropped a double-double with 12 points and 15 boards.
Blair County Christian's victory bumped their record up to 8-11. As for Great Commission, their loss dropped their record down to 15-7.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Great Commission has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 29 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Blair County Christian struggles in that department as they've been averaging 29.9 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Great Commission strolled past Blair County Christian in their previous meeting back in January by a score of 57-38. The rematch might be a little tougher for Great Commission since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
