Basketball Recap: Starkville Takes Down Ranked Madison Central

On Thursday, Starkville faced Madison Central in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Starkville Yellowjackets snuck past the Madison Central Jaguars with a 57-52 victory. This was payback for the Yellowjackets, who suffered a 48-43 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Starkville has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 17-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.1 points per game. As for Madison Central, their loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-5.

Starkville will square off against Tupelo at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Madison Central, they will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on South Jones on January 20th.
