The Barrington Eagles will face off against the South Kingstown Rebels at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Barrington is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.8 runs per game this season.
Barrington is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Rhode Island's top teams: Westerly, who was ranked 11th at the time (Barrington was ranked ninth). The Eagles walked away with a 12-8 victory over the Bulldogs on Wednesday. The win was familiar territory for the Eagles, who have now won three matches in a row.
The team relied heavily on Ruby Ciummo (2025), who went 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Maya Etheridge (2026), who went 2-for-4 with three RBI and one double.
Barrington hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least four batters in six consecutive games.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 19 runs the game before, South Kingstown was a bit more limited in their contest on Tuesday. They lost 8-2 to St. Raphael Academy. The Rebels haven't had much luck with the Saints recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.
Bianca Harding made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That triple was her first of the season.
Barrington pushed their record up to 7-2 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for South Kingstown, their loss dropped their record down to 4-7.
South Kingstown's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Barrington has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10.7 hits per game. It's a different story for South Kingstown, though, as they've been averaging 11.4 hits. Given Barrington's sizable advantage in that area, the Rebels will need to find a way to close that gap.
Barrington couldn't quite finish off South Kingstown in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 and fell 17-15. Can the Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
