Baseball Game Preview: Lake Buena Vista Vipers vs. Oak Ridge Pioneers

The Lake Buena Vista Vipers will head out to square off against the Oak Ridge Pioneers at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Lake Buena Vista has given up an average of 7 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Lake Buena Vista lost 14-3 to Ocoee on Tuesday.

Lake Buena Vista saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Adam Amis, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-3. Luis Ramos was another, scoring a run while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Oak Ridge gave up the first runs last Thursday, but they didn't let that get them down. They walked away with an 8-3 win over Jones.

Samuel Escola and Aaron Valle did most of the damage at the plate: Escola scored a run and stole two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances, while Valle scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. Those two stolen bases gave Valle a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Samuel Hernandez, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-1.

Oak Ridge kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Jones only managed five hits.

Lake Buena Vista has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-11 record this season. As for Oak Ridge, their record now sits at 3-10.

Lake Buena Vista took their victory against Oak Ridge in their previous matchup back in February by a conclusive 14-3 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Vipers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
