            Softball Recap: Voorheesville Blackbirds vs. La Salle Institute Cadets        
        
		
        
        
            After having lost a blowout in their  previous game against Ichabod Crane, Voorheesville was happy to have turned things around  on Monday. They walked away with  a   6-1  victory over the La Salle Institute Cadets.
 Abby Brown made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She  didn't allow a single  earned run while striking out seven over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't  given up  more than two  walks in seven consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box,  going 2-for-3 with one  double and one  RBI.
 In other batting news,  the team  relied heavily on  Maddy Tabakian, who  went 2-for-3 with two  RBI, one  run,  and one  double. That's the most  RBI  she has posted since back in April.  Kensington English also deserves some recognition as  she  hit her first  double of the season.
 Voorheesville  hit smart and  finished the game with only two  strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters  in three consecutive  contests.
Voorheesville is  on a roll lately: they've  won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-9 record  this season. As for La Salle Institute,  they are  on  a  ten-game losing streak  that has dropped them down to 0-10.
 We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Voorheesville is set to  face off against  their familiar foe Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk  at 4:30  p.m.  on Tuesday. Meanwhile, La Salle Institute will  take on  rival Academy of the Holy Names  at 4:30  p.m.  on Tuesday.
