Football Game Preview: Ledyard Colonels vs. Waterford Lancers + How To Watch

Ledyard is preparing for their first league matchup of the season on Friday. They will be playing in front of their home fans against the Waterford Lancers at 6:00 p.m. Ledyard's defense has only allowed 13.2 points per game this season, so Waterford's offense will have their work cut out for them.

Ledyard will roll into the contest after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any points last Friday, then bounced right back against Montville on Thursday. The Colonels breezed past the Wolves to the tune of 42-6. The matchup marked the Colonels' most dominant victory of the season so far.

This one was won in the trenches and the lion's share of the credit has to go to Jackson Grimm and Calvin J Casavant. Grimm rushed for 133 yards and two touchdowns on only 15 carries while J Casavant rushed for 127 yards and one score on only five carries. Those 133 rushing yards gave Grimm a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jackson Favry, who rushed for 51 yards and a pair of TDs on only seven carries.

Meanwhile, Waterford had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 25.5 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They walked away with a 21-14 win over the Panthers.

Waterford's victory bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Ledyard, their win bumped their record up to an identical 3-1.

Ledyard might still be hurting after the 26-6 loss they got from Waterford in their previous meeting back in October of 2024. Thankfully for the Colonels, Jax Higgins (who rushed for 79 yards and a pair of scores, and also threw for 99 yards and one touchdown) won't be suiting up this time.
