Simla and Norwood squared off in some playoff action on Saturday, but Simla had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Mavericks by a score of 46-44. The Cubs' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Despite the loss, Simla saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Evan Guy rushed for 143 yards and one touchdown on only 13 carries, and also threw for 127 yards and four TDs while completing 78.6% of his passes. Ethan Kissam was another key player, gaining 196 total yards and a touchdown.

Simla's defeat dropped their record down to 6-4. As for Norwood, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 8-2.

As of now, neither Simla nor the Mavericks have any future games scheduled.
