Mt. Pleasant beats Hickman County for their third straight win

Recap: Mt. Pleasant Tigers vs. Hickman County Bulldogs

The Mt. Pleasant Tigers had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 21 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They took down Hickman County 35-21. The score was all tied up 14-14 at the break, but Mt. Pleasant was the (much) better team in the second half.

Among those leading the charge was Jakyri Mcclure, who rushed for 179 yards while picking up 9.9 yards per carry. Darien Meza made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.

Several Bulldogs players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Elisha Puckett, who rushed for 53 yards and a touchdown on only seven carries. Puckett was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 53 yards.

Mt. Pleasant's victory was their fourth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 8-1. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 42.3 points per game. As for Hickman County, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-5 record this season.

Mt. Pleasant will look to defend their home field on Friday against Loretto at 7:00 p.m. Loretto will be coming into the contest with an undefeated record on the line. As for Hickman County, they will head out on the road to face off against Harpeth at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Tennessee (Harpeth is ranked 237th, while Hickman County is ranked 234th).
