Softball Game Preview: Union County Fightin' Tigers vs. Trenton Tigers

Union County is 1-9 against Trenton since March of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Fightin' Tigers will host the Tigers at 6:00 p.m. Union County will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.

Union County made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Trinity Christian Academy, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Fightin' Tigers never let the Conquerors get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory on Monday. Considering the Fightin' Tigers have won 12 matchups by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

The team relied heavily on Jaydin Alvarez, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Courtney Manning was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-2.

Union County hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least four batters in 13 consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Trenton came up short against Crystal River on Monday and fell 9-6.

Presley Akins made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole two bases while going 4-for-4. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played.

Union County's win bumped their record up to 14-5. As for Trenton, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-6 record this season.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Union County has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.3 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Trenton struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
