While Hillcrest's win against Hueytown wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Patriots won a game that couldn't have been any closer, slipping by the Golden Gophers 27-26. The victory continues a trend for the Patriots in their matchups with the Golden Gophers: they've now won four in a row.

Meanwhile, Tuscaloosa County was not able to break out of their rough patch last Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They were beaten by Oak Mountain 43-7. The Wildcats were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 29-0.

Despite the defeat, Tuscaloosa County saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Kj Williams threw for 200 yards and one touchdown while completing 90% of his passes, and also rushed for 30 yards.

Hillcrest's win bumped their record up to 4-2. As for Tuscaloosa County, their loss dropped their record down to 0-5.
