Baseball Recap: Delphi Community Gets the Win

While Delphi Community's victory against Frontier wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Oracles had just enough and edged out the Falcons 4-3 on Thursday. The win continues a trend for the Oracles in their matchups with the Falcons: they've now won three in a row.

Brett Huffman made a splash no matter where he played. He struck out eight batters over 6.2 innings while giving up three earned runs off six hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Delphi Community let Levi Coghill and Hunter Wandrei run wild. Coghill went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and two runs, while Wandrei went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one double. Delphi Community is undefeated when Coghill posts two or more runs, but 4-8 otherwise.

Delphi Community's record is now 11-8. As for Frontier, with the defeat, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 10-4.

Coming up, Delphi Community will head out to face off against Lewis Cass at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Frontier, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Clinton Central at 6:00 p.m. The Falcons' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bulldogs have averaged an impressive 7.4 runs per game this season.
