Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Parkland). Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Horizon Scorpions an 18-0 shutout on Tuesday. The Matadors might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matches by eight runs or more this season.

Samantha Martinez was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 3-for-3.

In other batting news, Parkland got a massive performance out of Sophia Villarreal, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2. That's the most hits Villarreal has posted over her last 11 contests. Olympia Castillo was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-2.

Parkland was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .857. They are a perfect 9-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Parkland's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-10.
