Preview: Southwest Covenant Patriots vs. Oklahoma Bible Trojans
Southwest Covenant is 0-3 against Oklahoma Bible since September of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Southwest Covenant Patriots will head out on the road to face off against the Oklahoma Bible Trojans at 7:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
With a playoff game on the line, Southwest Covenant rose to the challenge on Friday. They put the hurt on Wilson with a sharp 42-22 victory. The victory was just what Southwest Covenant needed coming off of a 52-28 defeat in their prior game.
Zeke Williams was a one-man wrecking crew for Southwest Covenant as he rushed for 213 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 10.7 yards per carry, and also picked up 41 receiving yards. Another player making a difference was Nate Gerber, who rushed for 64 yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Oklahoma Bible came tearing into Friday's game with seven straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 39.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. They didn't even let Hollis onto the board and left with a 50-0 victory. Given Oklahoma Bible's advantage in MaxPreps' Oklahoma football rankings (they are ranked third, while Hollis is ranked 38th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Their wins bumped Southwest Covenant to 7-3 and Oklahoma Bible to 10-1.
Southwest Covenant was dealt a bruising 56-12 loss at the hands of Oklahoma Bible when the teams last played back in September. Can Southwest Covenant avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
