Football Game Preview: Jacksboro Tigers vs. Holliday Eagles

The Jacksboro Tigers will head out on the road to take on the Holliday Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Jacksboro knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 31 points or more in their past five matchups -- so hopefully Holliday likes a good challenge.

Jacksboro's defense heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They blew past Valley View, posting a 61-0 victory. Considering the Tigers have won four contests by more than 27 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Wyatt Gavit produced another solid performance throwing for 293 yards and six touchdowns on only 11 passes. Thanks to that big game, he is now up to 25 passing touchdowns on the season. Ryder Davis helped Gavit out on the ground, rushing for 105 yards and one TD on only six carries.

Special teams also deserves some recognition, posting 13 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Kris Wicks, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.

Meanwhile, there was early excitement for Holliday after they claimed the first score on Friday, but it was Henrietta who ended up claiming the real prize. The Eagles lost 55-34 to the Bearcats. The Eagles have been going strong on the season, but this is now their second loss in a row.

Jacksboro will have to contain Caleb McClane as he made an impact in Holliday's last game. He threw for 230 yards and three touchdowns.

Jacksboro pushed their record up to 5-4 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.0 points over those games. As for Holliday, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-3.

Jacksboro suffered a grim 36-14 defeat to Holliday when the teams last played back in November of 2024. Thankfully for the Tigers, Hunter Jones (who threw for 282 yards and four TDs while picking up 10.8 yards per attempt) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
