Basketball Game Preview: Panhandle Panthers vs. Abernathy Antelopes

The Panhandle Panthers will square off against the Abernathy Antelopes at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Panhandle is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Monday. They breezed past Spearman to the tune of 67-25. Winning may never get old, but the Panthers sure are getting used to it with their 11th in a row.

Meanwhile, Abernathy waltzed into their contest on Monday with ten straight wins... but they left with 11. They blew past the Owls 77-41. Given the Antelopes' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 80th, while the Owls are ranked 361st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Panhandle's win bumped their record up to 29-3. As for Abernathy, their victory bumped their record up to 26-8.

Panhandle strolled past Abernathy in their previous meeting back in November of 2019 by a score of 45-31. The rematch might be a little tougher for Panhandle since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
