Softball Game Preview: Poplar Springs Atomics vs. Rocky Bayou Christian Knights

The Poplar Springs Atomics will head out on the road to square off against the Rocky Bayou Christian Knights at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Poplar Springs has now lost seven straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since March 6.

Poplar Springs lost 17-7 to Geneva County on Friday. That's two games in a row now that the Atomics have lost by exactly ten runs.

Marissa Bollon was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Jada Bollon, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Rocky Bayou Christian entered their matchup against Rutherford on Friday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Knights fell 12-7 to the Rams.

Skyler Dill-Langley made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one home run. That home run was her first of the season. Ellie Olson was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

Poplar Springs' defeat dropped their record down to 1-7. As for Rocky Bayou Christian, the loss was their first at home , dropping their record down to 8-4.

Tuesday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Poplar Springs has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .446. However, it's not like Rocky Bayou Christian struggles in that department as they've averaged .540. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.

Poplar Springs suffered a grim 14-4 defeat to Rocky Bayou Christian in their previous meeting back in April of 2017. Can the Atomics avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
