Volleyball Recap: St. Francis Desales Extends Winning Streak to Three

St. Francis DeSales had already won two in a row and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They put the hurt on the Whitehall-Yearling Rams with a sharp 3-0 win.

Not only was the match a shutout, it was a big one: St. Francis DeSales took every set by at least 14 points. The final score came out to 25-2, 25-5, 25-11.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead St. Francis DeSales to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ava Gilmartin, who had five aces and four digs. Those five aces gave Gilmartin a new career-high. Gabby Winkler was another key player, getting five aces.

They weren't the only good servers: St. Francis DeSales was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 20 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least six aces in four consecutive matches.

St. Francis DeSales' victory bumped their record up to 16-7. As for Whitehall-Yearling, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 14 of their last 15 matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-21 record this season.

St. Francis DeSales will host Granville at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Whitehall-Yearling does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
