Baseball Game Preview: Braxton County Eagles vs. Moorefield Yellow Jackets

The Braxton County Eagles will take on the Moorefield Yellow Jackets at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Braxton County will be strutting in after a victory while Moorefield will be coming in after a defeat.

Having struggled with four losses in a row, Braxton County turned things around against Webster County on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 15-4 margin over the Highlanders. The high-scoring effort was just what the Eagles needed considering they were shut out in their previous match.

Owen Lowther was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. Braxton County is undefeated when Lowther posts two or more stolen bases, but 2-18 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Luke Kelly, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Braxton County was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .433. The last time their batting average was this high was back in May of 2024.

Meanwhile, Moorefield was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They fell 7-2 to South Harrison. Having soared to a lofty ten runs in the game before, the Yellow Jackets couldn't push the score so high this time.

Moorefield's loss dropped their record down to 4-20. As for Braxton County, their win bumped their record up to 6-18.
