Softball Recap: Freeman Gets the Win

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Freeman ultimately got the result they hoped for on Wednesday. They had just enough and edged out the Hermitage Panthers 9-8. The win continues a trend for the Mavericks in their matchups with the Panthers: they've now won five in a row.

Ryleigh Perks was incredible, going 3-for-4 with four stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Oakley Cotropia, who went 3-for-5 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Freeman's victory bumped their record up to 4-5. As for Hermitage, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-8.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Freeman will host J.R. Tucker at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Hermitage, they will square off against Glen Allen at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Jaguars will roll in looking for their ninth straight win, something the Panthers surely won't give up without a fight.
