Baseball Recap: St. David's Starts Season with Win Against Trinity Academy

St. David had to kick off their season on the road on Tuesday, but they showed no ill effects. They blew past the Trinity Academy Tigers 12-5. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Warriors as it put an end to their three-game losing streak dating back to last season.

Smith Goracke made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out 11 batters over 3.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and not a single walk). Those 11 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, Evan Thompson and Malachi Sheats did most of the damage at the plate: Thompson scored two runs while going 2-for-3, while Sheats scored two runs.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. St. David's will host Trinity Academy at 4:15 p.m. on Friday. As for Trinity Academy, they will welcome Thales Academy Rolesville at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Trinity Academy has now lost 11 straight dating back to last season, leaving the team hunting for their first win since the 25th.
