Softball Game Preview: Anaconda Copperheads vs. Ennis Mustangs

The Anaconda Copperheads will head out on the road to square off against the Ennis Mustangs at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Anaconda has given up an average of 10.8 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Thompson Falls hit Anaconda with a five-run sixth inning on Wednesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Copperheads lost 15-4 to the Blue Hawks. The Copperheads have struggled against the Blue Hawks recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost meeting.

Ennis not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since April 12, 2024 (when they won 11-1). They were the clear victors by a 13-6 margin over Three Forks.

Adi Wood made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching five innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was even better at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

In other batting news, Ruby Boggus was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and one double. That double marked the first that she has hit this season. Another player making a difference was Kayzli Ostler, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Ennis now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Anaconda, their loss dropped their record down to 2-4.
