Softball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Cimarron

Cimarron had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Holcomb Longhorns a 15-0 shutout. The Bluejays have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Longhorns, too.

Quinn Campbell made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out ten over five innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Cimarron got a big performance out of Kinlee Simon, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Audrey Stewart was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Cimarron hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in three consecutive contests.

Cimarron's record is now 7-2. As for Holcomb, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-5.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Cimarron beat the Longhorns by a score of 20-0 later that day.
