Basketball Recap: Swansea Takes a Loss

Swansea was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 36th straight defeat dating back to last season. They were outmatched by the Fox Creek Predators and fell 103-40. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 286th, while the Predators are ranked 81st).

Despite the loss, Swansea saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Zyshawn Jamison posted 22 points. That was a full 55% of Swansea's points, marking the sixth time in a row he's had more than a third of the team's points.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Fox Creek to victory, but perhaps none more so than Brelan Baskett, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 13 rebounds. The dominant performance gave Baskett a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Justin Vining, who went 7 for 12 on his way to 16 points in addition to six boards and six steals.

Swansea's defeat dropped their record down to 0-13. As for Fox Creek, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 13-8.

Swansea has already played their next contest (against Silver Bluff), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Fox Creek wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 56-45 loss against Keenan on the 25th.
