Paintsville and Prestonsburg are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2015, but likely not for long. The Tigers will face off against the Blackcats at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Paintsville will be strutting in after a win while Prestonsburg will be coming in after a defeat.

Paintsville barely beat Belfry the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Tigers were the clear victors by an 8-1 margin over the Pirates on Tuesday. The Tigers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 14 matchups by seven runs or more this season.

Anderson Lauffer and Lukas Stewart did most of the damage at the plate: Lauffer got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base, while Stewart went 1-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base. Brayden Davis also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Paintsville hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least three batters in four consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Prestonsburg fell victim to Pleasure Ridge Park and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They came up short against the Panthers, falling 14-0.

Prestonsburg saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Luke Hall, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base.

Paintsville is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 13 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 23-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.1 runs on average over those games. As for Prestonsburg, they dropped their record down to 10-22 with the loss, which was their seventh straight on the road.
