Football Recap: Tampa Catholic's Higher State Rank on Full Display on Friday

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Steinbrenner, Tampa Catholic was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They enjoyed a cozy 25-6 victory over Keswick Christian. Given Tampa Catholic's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked 45th, while Keswick Christian is ranked 125th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Ava Kopp was a one-woman wrecking crew as she threw for 216 yards and three touchdowns, and also rushed for 42 yards and one TD. She has become a key player for Tampa Catholic: the team is undefeated when she posts at least three passing touchdowns, but 2-5 otherwise.

Tampa Catholic didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Keswick Christian to a completion percentage of just 19%. The team can thank Samantha Dobson for the heroic effort on defense: he defended three passes and snagged an interception. Tampa Catholic wasn't nearly as limited: they posted one of 59.5%.

Tampa Catholic's record is now 9-5. As for Keswick Christian, the defeat snapped their winning streak at five games and leaves them with a 6-2 record.

Coming up, Tampa Catholic will face off against Booker at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Keswick Christian, they will square off against Bayshore Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
