Basketball Game Preview: Highland Huskies vs. Clearwater Valley Rams

The Highland Huskies will venture away from home to face off against the Clearwater Valley Rams at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Highland is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They enjoyed a cozy 55-39 win over Colton back in December of 2024. Given the Huskies' advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 87th in Idaho, while the Wildcats are ranked 241st in Washington), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Highland relied on the efforts of Kylee Beck, who went 6 for 11 on her way to 12 points in addition to seven rebounds and four steals, and Hailey Click, who posted 17 points and five steals. Click is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 13 games she's played dating back to last season. The team also got some help courtesy of Sheradyn Stamper, who put up ten points and six steals.

Highland smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in ten consecutive contests dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, Clearwater Valley had to endure a six-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. In a tight game that could have gone either way, they made off with a 38-37 victory over Potlatch.

Highland better keep an eye on Eva Lundgren. She was instrumental in Clearwater Valley's win, going 8 of 18 on her way to 17 points.

Highland's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-4. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 25.5 points per game. As for Clearwater Valley, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-6.

Everything came up roses for Highland against Clearwater Valley in their previous matchup back in January of 2024, as the team secured a 48-14 win. Does Highland have another victory up their sleeve, or will Clearwater Valley turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
