Basketball Recap: Western Pennsylvania School for the Deaf Takes a Loss

Western Pennsylvania School for the Deaf was not able to break out of their rough patch on Sunday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss dating back to last season. They were three points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 33-30 heartbreaker at the hands of Rhode Island School for the Deaf. The Lions were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Rhode Island School for the Deaf apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2023.

Rhode Island School for the Deaf's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Howard Valentin, who posted 19 points along with seven boards and five assists. The game was Valentin's seventh in a row with at least 18 points. Another player making a difference was Correy Oliveira, who put up ten points in addition to eight rebounds and three steals.

Western Pennsylvania School for the Deaf's loss dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Rhode Island School for the Deaf, they now have a winning record of 12-11.

Western Pennsylvania School for the Deaf does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Rhode Island School for the Deaf, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 53-46 win against Grove on the 24th.
