Baseball Game Preview: George School Cougars vs. Abington Friends

The George School Cougars are headed away from home for the first time to square off against Abington Friends at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. George School is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak.

Fans were treated to a battle of the Cougars on Saturday. George School fell 10-6 to Atlantic Christian.

Meanwhile, Abington Friends got the win against Murrell Dobbins Vo-Tech on Wednesday by a conclusive 18-3.

Jackson McWilliams was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over 2.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs but no hits (and only one walk). McWilliams was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-2.

In other batting news, Jarius Ford was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with four RBI, two doubles, and one run. Sam Lopata was another key player, scoring three runs while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Abington Friends always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .700. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Murrell Dobbins Vo-Tech only posted an OBP of .385.

Abington Friends' record is now 2-0. As for George School, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-3.

George School took their win against Abington Friends when the teams last played back in April of 2022 by a conclusive 19-1 score. Will the Cougars repeat their success, or do Abington Friends have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
