Preview: Emerald Vikings vs. Clinton Red Devils
Emerald and Clinton are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2019, but not for long. The Emerald Vikings will be playing in front of their home fans against the Clinton Red Devils at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Emerald has struggled recently with three losses in a row, while Clinton will arrive with four straight victories.
Emerald pushed their score all the way to 59 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 67-59 hit to the loss column at the hands of Union County. Emerald has not had much luck with Union County recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.
Meanwhile, Clinton earned a 63-50 win over Woodruff on Wednesday.
Emerald has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost seven of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-12 record this season. As for Clinton, their win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-7.
Emerald came up short against Clinton when the teams last played back in February of 2023, falling 56-49. Can Emerald avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
