Football Game Preview: Waldport Irish vs. Oakridge Warriors

The Waldport Irish will head out to face off against the Oakridge Warriors at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Oakridge took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Waldport, who comes in off a win.

Waldport is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They took their game on Friday with ease, bagging a 58-14 win over Central Linn. The Irish not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since October 4, 2024 (when they won 44-0).

Waldport can attribute much of their success to Kelden McNeil, who rushed for 109 yards and two TDs, and Daniel Segaline, who rushed for 142 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only nine carries. McNeil's rushing production has been exceptional as that marked his sixth straight game with at least 109 rushing yards dating back to last season.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Waldport was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 323 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in September of 2024.

Meanwhile, Oakridge was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They were outmatched by Toledo and fell 60-28.

Oakridge's defeat dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Waldport, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-7.

Waldport strolled past Oakridge in their previous meeting back in September of 2024 by a score of 28-12. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Irish since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
