Softball Game Preview: Quincy Orioles vs. Springport Spartans

The Quincy Orioles will head out to take on the Springport Spartans at 3:45 p.m. on Friday. Quincy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.2 runs per game this season.

Things were looking good for Quincy after they put the first run on the board on Tuesday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They fell just short of Stockbridge by a score of 7-5. The Orioles have struggled against the Panthers recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Miley Poindexter was cooking despite her team's loss, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with three stolen bases and one run. Ary'Annah Freeman also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.

Meanwhile, Springport strolled into their game on Tuesday with a perfect record and they left with the same. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Reading a 15-0 shutout. Fans of the Spartans have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 6+ runs.

Springport's victory bumped their record up to 3-0. As for Quincy, their loss dropped their record down to 2-2.

Quincy couldn't quite finish off Springport in their previous matchup back in April of 2025 and fell 4-2. Can the Orioles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
