Recap: Valley View Tigers vs. Vela Sabercats
The Valley View Tigers suffered their biggest loss since December 15, 2023 on Friday. They were beaten by Vela 77-43. Valley View has not had much luck with Vela recently, as the team's come up short the last seven times they've met.
Vela's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Axel Garza, who scored 17 points along with eight rebounds and six assists. Garza's trending in the right direction, as he's improved his point production for three games straight. Another player making a difference was Jp Olivarez, who scored 19 points along with four steals.
Valley View has not been sharp recently, as they've lost eight of their last ten matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-18 record this season. As for Vela, the victory (which was their 11th in a row) raised their record to 24-5.
Valley View will head out on the road to square off against McAllen Memorial at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. McAllen Memorial presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Valley View in Texas (McAllen Memorial is ranked 195th, while Valley View is ranked 1117th). As for Vela, they will be playing at home against Rowe at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Rowe is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
