Softball Recap: Ben L. Smith Comes Up Short

The home team had come away the winner the last four times Ben L. Smith and Parkland had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. Ben L. Smith lost 19-2 to Parkland on Wednesday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Mustangs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 15-0 last Wednesday.

Ben L. Smith saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Keani Scurlock-Slade, who went 1-for-2 with one triple and one run. That triple was Scurlock-Slade's first of the season.

Ben L. Smith's loss dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Parkland, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 6-3.

The future could be bright for both Ben L. Smith and Parkland: their next opponents haven't had the best luck recently. Ben L. Smith will try to hand Atkins their fourth-straight defeat when the two meet at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Parkland will look to extend Western Guilford's eight-game losing streak when they meet at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
