Softball Recap: Central Arkansas Christian Victorious

It was close, but on Thursday the Central Arkansas Christian Mustangs sidestepped the White County Central Bears for a 7-6 win. That's two games straight that the Mustangs have won by just one run.

Kayla Myers made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and five unearned) runs off four hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Addie Browning, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-4. What's more, she posted two RBI, the most she's had since back in March. Alyssa Jansen also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

The victory made it two in a row for Central Arkansas Christian and bumps their season record up to 3-8. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of one runs across that stretch. As for White County Central, their defeat was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 4-7.

Coming up, Central Arkansas Christian will square off against Bigelow at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for White County Central, they will face off against Newport at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Bears are facing the Greyhounds at the right time seeing as the Greyhounds are stuck on a nine-game losing streak.
