Basketball Game Preview: Sherrard Tigers vs. Mercer County Golden Eagles

Sherrard hasn't had much luck against Mercer County recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Sherrard Tigers will be playing at home against the Mercer County Golden Eagles at 7:00 p.m. Mercer County took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Sherrard, who comes in off a win.

Last Friday, Sherrard didn't have too much trouble with Monmouth-Roseville as they won 56-37. Given the Tigers' advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 78th, while the Titans are ranked 361st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Mercer County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were dealt a 66-37 defeat at the hands of Riverdale.

Sherrard pushed their record up to 15-2 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road. As for Mercer County, their loss dropped their record down to 7-10.

Sherrard beat Mercer County 50-41 when the teams last played back in December of 2023. Will Sherrard repeat their success, or does Mercer County have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
