Recap: Banneker Bulldogs vs. St. Anselm's Abbey Panthers
The Banneker Bulldogs won the last time they faced the St. Anselm's Abbey Panthers, and things went their way on Thursday too. Banneker came out on top against St. Anselm's Abbey by a score of 55-45. Given Banneker's advantage in MaxPreps' District of Columbia basketball rankings (they are ranked 13th, while St. Anselm's Abbey is ranked 264th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Banneker was led to victory by Doran Clausell and Jeremiah Shelton. Clausell scored 19 points, while Shelton scored nine points along with ten rebounds and seven steals. Shelton hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Carter Burley, who scored three points along with three steals.
The victory makes it two in a row for Banneker and bumps their season record up to 7-3. As for St. Anselm's Abbey, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-9.
Banneker will head out on the road to face off against Jackson-Reed at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for St. Anselm's Abbey, they will be playing at home against Hebrew Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Hebrew Academy's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season.
