Football Recap: Metuchen Bulldogs vs. J.P. Stevens Hawks
Metuchen won the last time they faced J.P. Stevens, and things went their way on Thursday too. The Metuchen Bulldogs simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the J.P. Stevens Hawks 40-6 on the road. Considering the Bulldogs have won three contests by more than 28 points this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Metuchen had a senior duo take command as Evan Toth rushed for 141 yards and two touchdowns and Jason Woods rushed for 77 yards and two touchdowns. Woods is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for three straight games.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Metuchen was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 270 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in October of 2023.
The win made it two in a row for Metuchen and bumps their season record up to 5-2. As for J.P. Stevens, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-5.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Metuchen will face off against Brearley at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for J.P. Stevens, they will challenge Roselle Park on Friday.
