Volleyball Recap: Newton North Extends Winning Streak to Eight

Newton North had already won seven in a row and they went ahead and made it eight on Friday. They walked away with a 3-1 win over the Newton South Lions. The Tigers have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Lions, too.

The victory didn't come easy: Newton South scored at least 18 points in every set. The final score came out to 25-22, 20-25, 25-21, 25-18.

Sasha Selivan paced Newton North's offense, picking up 12 kills. Selivan really made an impact as she also led the team in assists with 22. Alyssa Teixeira and Chiara Vitolo kept things locked in from the service line: the pair finished with two aces apiece.

Despite the loss, Newton South still got an impressive performance from Natalie Huang, who had 26 digs and three aces. Huang is on a roll when it comes to aces, as she's now served two or more in each of the last six games she's played.

Newton North's win bumped their record up to 18-2. As for Newton South, their loss ended a three-match streak of away wins and brought them to 11-7.

As of now, neither Newton North nor the Lions have any future games scheduled.
