Basketball Recap: Mcdonald County Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Carlie Martin and Dakota O'brien

McDonald County was the 59-38 winner over Joplin when they last played one another back in February of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The McDonald County Mustangs lost to the Joplin Eagles on the road by a 49-35 margin on Thursday. The Mustangs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the loss, McDonald County had strong showings from Dakota O'Brien, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten boards, and Carlie Martin, who posted 11 points. The match was O'Brien's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Anissa Ramirez, who scored two points and four steals.

McDonald County now has a losing record at 6-7. As for Joplin, their win bumped their record up to 4-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. McDonald County will host Marshfield at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Joplin, it'll be a Battle of the Birds when the Joplin Eagles take on the Glendale Falcons at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
